A team outing to an ice rink produced plenty of falls, a few surprises and at least one display of genuine skill.

Taking to the Ice

On 5 October, staff traded their desks for the rink at Planet Ice in Altrincham. The evening was less about graceful spins under spotlights and more about clinging to the barrier for dear life. There was laughter throughout, and plenty of determined effort to stay upright, though some participants left with impressive bruises.

Standout Performances

Alex, the Head of Design, earned the dubious honour of falling over more times than anyone else. He also took the biggest risks, attempting a jump that drew praise from onlookers who are not easily impressed. One colleague’s verdict: “Yeah, that was surprisingly decent.”

Maeve turned out to be the team’s secret weapon on skates, producing moves that kept everyone else on their feet and helped the group stay vertical.

Rumour has it that Josh and Danielle raced to settle who was the fastest speed skater, though accounts of the winner remain disputed.

Ben relied on the support of his colleagues throughout, with hand-holding and encouragement getting him around the rink. With that help, he managed to put his best skate forward.

The group had a great time and is already looking ahead to the next staff event: a trip to Chill FactorE.
