Building a Better Talent Directory
When a management agency needs a website that works as hard as its roster, the details matter. A recent project for a talent management company began with a set of pre-existing designs; what was needed was a development team to turn those designs into a fully functioning site. The result is a platform that serves both the agency and the people browsing its books.
Why Filtering Matters
The centrepiece of the build is a scalable filtering system for the models and talent listed on the site. Filters are familiar from online shops, but they work just as well when the content is a list of people rather than products. For an agency managing a large roster, the ability to narrow results by specific talent transforms a long, unwieldy list into something a visitor can actually navigate.
The thinking behind this choice was straightforward: the website is the agency’s portfolio, and every talent page needs to be easy to reach. A personalised browsing experience keeps visitors engaged rather than overwhelmed.
Design and Development Approach
The team worked from a supplied design with a distinctive visual identity, carrying consistent branding elements throughout the site to reinforce recognition. Scalable vector graphics were used extensively, and the build included in-depth custom post type coding. Custom post types function much like standard posts and pages, which means the agency can keep adding pages for new talent and anyone else who needs a place in the portfolio without rebuilding the site each time.
The Value of Small Features
Filters can look like a minor detail, but they are often what makes a large site usable. They give visitors a way to find and move through many pages without friction — a benefit that applies just as much to shoppers as it does to anyone browsing a talent directory. Anything that improves the user experience tends to be good for business, whether that means sales, enquiries or simply more visits.
For this agency, the new site should mean visitors engage with the information on each page and go on to make enquiries and bookings. It is a reminder that a well-built website is not just a shop window; it is a working tool for the business behind it.
