Rock Climbing At North West Face Climbing Centre

A team from a Warrington-based digital agency swapped spreadsheets for climbing holds during a team-building outing on 7 April.

A Change of Scenery

After a morning spent working through the usual routine, the group headed to The North West Face Climbing Centre. With two new apprentices having recently joined, the afternoon offered a chance for colleagues to encourage one another to push a little further than they might have done alone.

The mood shifted quickly once the height of the walls became clear. Nerves set in, but instructors at the centre were on hand to talk everyone through what lay ahead. Once harnesses were fitted and the safety briefing delivered, there was no turning back.

Taking the First Step

The first question was simple: who would climb first? A few hesitant murmurs followed before the braver members of the group stepped forward. Everyone who took part gave it a proper go, including the managing director, who was persuaded to have a try.

A friendly race between two colleagues from the marketing and graphics teams drew plenty of attention from below, with the graphics side reaching the top first.

Cheers From Below

The session left everyone tired but in good spirits. The group spent much of the afternoon cheering each other on, and by the evening the effort had clearly caught up with them.

The team extended its thanks to the staff at The North West Face Climbing Centre for hosting the afternoon.
